#1 Dumbo


Originally released: 1941
Current status: Even though the plot for Tim Burton's adaptation hasn't been revealed, sources say that the new version will expand on the circus aspect of the story.
Cast: Will Smith is in early talks to play a dad who works at the circus.

#2 The Lion King


Originally released: 1994
Current status: Disney announced the reboot in September. We don't have many details, but we do know Jon Favreau is directing. Stay tuned for a release date!
Cast: Donald Glover as Simba, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Billy Eichner as Timon, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa

#3 The Little Mermaid


Originally released: 1989
Current status: Disney is reportedly in the early stages of making a live-action version of Ariel and co. that will have no connection to the project in development with Chloë Grace Moretz, which is moving forward with a different studio. No one has been cast yet, but Lin-Manuel Miranda has signed on as a producer and co-songwriter for the movie alongside the animated classic's original songwriter, Alan Menken.
Cast: As of now, no one is attached to the movie.

#4 Mary Poppins


Originally released: 1964
Current status: Disney announced that a sequel to the original classic is in the works, with Rob Marshall directing. As of now, the release date has been set for Dec. 25, 2018.
Cast: Emily Blunt will play Mary Poppins, and Hamilton creator Lin Manuel-Miranda will star as Jack, a lamplighter who is presumably an updated version of Dick Van Dyke's chimney sweep Bert. Meryl Streep and Ben Whishaw will also join.

#5 Cruella De Vil


Originally released: 1961
Current status: Disney's upcoming film about the #1 enemy of dalmations everywhere, Cruella, will be an origin story about the iconic villain, and will supposedly be released sometime in the next three years
Cast: The Hollywood Reporter revealed Emma Stone has been locked down for the role.
