This was the first time that Amanda’s daughter had seen a family like their own on the TV. As the ‘Doc McStuffins’ that aired on Saturday had a lesbian and interracial couple.

In the episode, the family lives through a scary earthquake and learns the importance of having a safety plan in case of emergencies. Except that wasn’t the groundbreaking scene. It’s the series’ decision to feature a same-sex couple, voiced by actors Portia de Rossi and Wanda Sykes, who are both lesbians and it’s breaking the norms.
