Abraham has some major potential to be the ultimate warrior of the group, and while he’s shown moments of that, he really has to be given an ultimatum in the show: Either he gets a big storyline, or he dies. There’s no point dwelling on a character who doesn’t continually offer anything interesting to the plot.
The road from Houston to Washington DC is Abraham’s legacy, protecting Eugene and his manipulative lies, and picking up Rick’s group in the process. Since then he’s drifted in and out of the show without making a huge impact. There’ll be opportunities for him to come to the fore, it just depends on whether the writers seize the opportunity to make his character great.
