8. Myrcella Baratheon Was Only 12 When She Was Poisoned
The death of Myrcella Baratheon was hardly shocking. She wasn’t really an interesting character and we all knew that Cersei’s children would meet their demise one way or another. Her death scene was also done in an unsurprising manner – Ellaria Martell and her Sand Snakes (who were amazing in the book, but an absolute yawnfest on the show) poisoned her with a “kiss of death”.
However, even though Myrcella was clearly aged up a few years on the show and Nell Tiger Free (the actress who plays her) was 16 years old in season 5, you would be shocked to find out that sweet little Myrcella was only 12 years old when she died in the books.
So much for Oberyn Martell saying, “We don’t hurt little girls in Dorne.” I guess Ellaria forgot about that motto and waited for Myrcella to just be off of the coast to kill her.
7. Danaerys Targaryen Was 13 When She Was Sold To Khal Drogo
Poor Danaerys is completely awkward when we first meet her at the beginning of Game Of Thrones. She’s scared, abused both mentally and physically by her brother and feels completely worthless in everything she does. She’s sold to a savage Dothraki soldier whose idea of fun is watching people die at weddings and watching his soldiers mount slave girls like horses. Not quite something every 13-year-old girl dreams of is it?
Yes, Danaerys was only 13 years old when her brother, Viserys, sold her to Khal Drogo and threatened that he would let the whole khalasar (and their horses) rape her to become king. Oh and Vicerys was only 22 when the Khal and Dany had enough and gave him his golden crown.
