Better Call Saul is a prequel to Breaking Bad, but is it possible that the Bryan Cranston drama is in turn a prequel to The Walking Dead?
Through five seasons of Breaking Bad, Walter White was essentially responsible for many horrific events, including his brother-in-law’s death and a tragic plane crash, but a fan theory broken down by Netflix ponders whether his drug empire also could have resulted in the zombie apocalypse.
“What if Breaking Bad was about more than Walter White starting as a bumbling chemistry teacher and turning himself into a full-fledged monster?” the video asks. “What if he turned everyone into full-fledged monsters?”
While acknowledging that the claim was quite ambitious, the theory did find several connections between the AMC dramas, some more plausible than others.
“In episode 2 of The Walking Dead, we see Merle’s hidden stash of drugs; it conspicuously showcases blue-sky meth, the unique drug that turned Walter White into Heisenberg,” says the voice-over.
Further hints of a possible link include a red sports car, Gus Fring, and a certain “janky little white guy, whom Daryl (Norman Reedus) quotes as saying, ‘I’m going to kill you b—-.’” To be fair, that sure does sound a lot like Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul).
