American self-taught artist, illustrator, and graphic designer, Heather Theurer, creates incredible fairytale-inspired oil portraits that look like classic masterpieces from the 19th century. Theurer says that her aim is not to re-create what has already been done by other artists or Disney itself - but rather to transcend the ordinary.

Heather’s paintings are full of detail and capture the emotion of each character perfectly. Each painting not only physically resembles real-life versions of each character but also captures the narratives from the books and films they starred in. In one piece, titled Elegant Warrior, Mulan is beautifully depicted with her sword in hand and posed, ready to fight. In another painting titled Sewn-in his Shadow, Wendy can be seen mending Peter Pan's shoe, while Tinker Bell sulks nearby.

When creating her pieces, Theurer strived to go past mere physical resemblances of the characters, focusing instead on capturing and conveying their struggles, hope, and pride - attributes that wouldn't be obvious to the naked eye. All that attention to detail did not go to waste. Scroll down below to see for yourself!
